The Heavy Metal Knitting World Champion of 2022 is String Thing from the United Kingdom!
The title of 2022 World Champion in Heavy Metal Knitting goes to String Thing from the United Kingdom!
The third ever Heavy Metal Knitting World Championships – and second ever LIVE held Championship – was witnessed on Friday July 8th 2022 in Finland at the Joensuu Market Square Stage. The winner of the title is String Thing from the United Kingdom.
2nd place went to artist by heavy metal knitting name Woolfumes, which was a performance including performing stars from Scotland and India. As 3rd the jury recognized UniKorn from the United States. The jury rated all the performances by attitude, originality of the performance, story and by ”Heavyknittinghood”.
The jury explained the decision of the winner: “The winning team pulled off a surprising and energetic show. Creativity was shown in many different forms – from costumes to the using of space and stage. The show popped from the stage in the form of huge yarn balls and the audience was included to have fun with the artist. The jury was completely unanimous.“
“The 2nd rewarded Scottish-Indian Woolfumes inspired the audience from an educational view as the performance included knitting instructions, which impressed the jury. As 3rd galloped the artist by name UniKorn from the United States. The performance reminded us all about the fact that knitting is definitely not boring!”, the jury described.
For the title of Heavy Metal Knitting World Champion, 8 acts as the finalists from Germany and Sweden had to cancel their participation within the last days before the show.
