100 % Finnish Kainuu Grey breed wool from an organic farm located in Eastern Finland.

This breed was long considered as the grey variant of the Finnish landrace sheep (Finnsheep). However, it has recently been recognised as a separate breed. The breed got its name from the province of Kainuu in the northeastern Finland where the grey sheep were discovered. The origins of the sheep are unknown but probably come from further east, from Russia. It is pretty rare with a population of only 1,000. The lambs are often black at birth but turn grey as they get older.
Due to the organic nature of the yarn the skein weight varies between 120-140g.
